it is a free block now and i'm damn bored.

the school library is actually a nice place. to study, to blog, to surf blogs and to play hide-and-seek.

andrew neo is not here again today. let's get him a get-well-soon card or something. haha, i think he loves us. xD remember there was once when he was having a bad day and after our econs tutorial he totally brightened up! all because of the guys' nonsense. x)

anyway please please please do well for future tests. don't wait until promos then start mugging. that's not smart studying! and again, there is a physics test tomorrow.

omg i sounded like some granny.

oh yeah, yesterday's captain's ball with the seniors was quite fun. so was the day before's. yeah it's time we change game i think. and i hope that the next time we play, more people can participate. :)

damn tired. please try to sleep early (even though i don't. oh but i'm trying to!). or take naps. research has shown that people who take naps are likely to live longer. so you want longeivity? SLEEP LAH. my friend once said, "i don't care if i can't finish my assignment, at least i delay the onslaught of cancer!" haha. according to him, sleeping early helps you grow taller too. i don't really believe in this, but i guess there are still a lot of other benefits in sleeping early. but for the sake of people like lorraine gekmin and zhenggang, i shall say that there is still a HOPE that sleeping early will make you taller. oh but at least zhenggang takes naps. in class. -_____-

this is a boring entry. but it has recharged me. i shall go down to the canteen woohoo.

AND WE HAVE OFFICIALLY BEATEN OUR SENIOR CLASS IN THE NUMBER OF POSTS. applause.

ok, i'm forced to blog.
cos huh my marks very good meh? hahaha not 4.0! but if there is such a thing i don't mind trying the seating thing for physics test!

today's class mugging thing quite funny. more of a mug and sleep and mug and sleep and one very hyper kaiqi waking everyone up to play games which was bit sad but quite fun the way we misuse all the equip. next time we plan everyone bring one piece of equip and we set up our own game:)

capts ball with seniors. poor tanchen. call us so many times we lazy to move. in the end got play a bit and quite fun cos mixed groups then don't get thrashed so badly. and we go for pe looking like we just finished pe.

also! the physics car thingum. want me to post the videos at photo bucket? all the videos are extremely short. but we all know that the sony car that drifts is the coolest.
i'll try to upload it by end of this week:)

Whee! This is my first post! =) First post on blogspot too. I don't use blogspot to blog cuz I totally suck at html. Have to rely on softwares like dreamweaver to do stuff.

44's not a nice number... 45 is like so much nicer. I've been living my life with full of fours (Blk 444 if you read my address) to have more fours being thrown at me... I wonder why the school doesn't hurl a 4.0 at me though.

Anw, ian if you happen to come by, I can proudly say that I blogged now! You know ian asked me to blog about a convo between a big toe and a little toe??? He's totally random, randomly funny. My personal message on msn is "i don't like freaky freaks" and suddenly he im-ed me saying something along the lines of "hi. i'm a freaky freak. bye." -___-" Hah now the whole class knows you're a freaky freak.

Got back math test today! I screwed it lah but I think our class "rocks" at math. But I have to people to apologise to, namely pei zhi and kellyn, for I'm sure they could have gotten much much higher if they weren't sitting next to me during the test itself. Pei zhi called it the "stacy phenomenon" whereby the people sitting next to me will get super super bad luck and the person sitting opposite me will get super super good luck. Well lorraine was sitting opposite me and I must say her grades were lots better. If I'm not wrong, it's worth a 4.0. So I guess during phys and econs lecture test, people better start hoping they don't sit next to me. MUAHAHAHA. But then again, this luck thing hasn't been working very well recently based on my bridge experiences these 2 weeks, so I guess people need not worry too much?

I think class mugging sessions work! I don't know how many people agree with me cuz at 12+ less than half the original number of people still remained mugging at that area. I did more work in that short span of time than I could do at home =) Oh nos... which means I'm super slack at home! That's pretty bad. At home I have distractions like the com, which I am distracted by now by blogging. I suppose it's for a good cause to liven up our class blog :D

Alright! Since the class blog is still alive and kicking, I shall attempt to study now.

Au revoir! Ohh and bonne chance for the upcoming tests!

Okie, end of advertisement..

I feel like being a copycat and buy rj uniform too. hmm...and Samuel, pinafores are torture. Maybe the first few months are okay, but I am soooooo not gonna tolerate with wearing pinafores for 2 more years!!!! Boring or not, green and white's my color! yay! haha...and i thought we agreed green is nice?? BB ROCKS!

and yet again, i missed another bonding session. am i like turning anti-social? *gasp* qiongye must catch up with weiren!!!! he like up-ing his lame-o ratings by 100 every second!!! haha..and sam no need tell linxi le! TELL ME! HAHA...i won blog about your scandals one...really. I'll just tell everyone by mouth! haha..and i am gonna be a copycat and use green for this post! HAHA.

currently we have 42 posts on our blog. plus this one will be 43. woohoo and it's only the 2nd month! :D

anw don't worry, our blog will never die one. because the avid bloggers will make sure it is never dormant for more than 3 days.

so i missed a class bonding session yesterday huh. stupid tanchen wasn't there?!?! no wonder when i msged him and asked about what y'all did he couldn't answer me. sucks lah haha. but actually i think he's been trying hard to bond the class too. he gives a lot of ideas, albeit errrr, fanciful ones. he's serious about class issues, for eg. he will start discussing with people about the class. maybe we just need to encourage him to join in our games! haha.

Tangetn--MR3: actually im originally..
Tangetn--MR3: a mugger...
Tangetn--MR3: but somehow afterfitting in this class.
Tangetn--MR3: i get to know ppl like u..
Tangetn--MR3: and become a slacker..
Tangetn--MR3: ...
- kaiqi: haha
- kaiqi: what talking you????
- kaiqi: im not a slacker!!!!!!!
- kaiqi: ehhhhh
- kaiqi: im good influence ok!
Tangetn--MR3: the whole class is quite slack..
Tangetn--MR3: havent u realized..
Tangetn--MR3: shall we have a class mugging session..
Tangetn--MR3: juz like 6k
- kaiqi: haha SIAO
- kaiqi: our class is not really slack lah
- kaiqi: just not mugger
- kaiqi: isnt that good?
- kaiqi: balanced and healthy

our class is not slack lah? and feedback from the other mugging classes is that generally they aren't happy with class mugging session. how can a mugging session ever supercede a bonding session? it's perfectly fine to mug but since our class has very few common breaks, use those breaks to do something together. use your own break to mug. btw good luck for physics test next week. heard that it's tough! let's do well and prove tanchen wrong! haha.

- kaiqi: you should go for class outings
- kaiqi: and eat together with the class
Tangetn--MR3: i always do dat wat?
Tangetn--MR3: at least i tried hard to
- kaiqi: sometimes you outcast yourself
Tangetn--MR3: u feel dat i am alienated?
- kaiqi: haha
Tangetn--MR3: outcast...??
Tangetn--MR3: juz sometimes prefer to be alone
Tangetn--MR3: so many things to think about..
Tangetn--MR3: u know..
Tangetn--MR3: its always gd to be comtemplative..
- kaiqi: comtemplative?
- kaiqi: did you use the wrong word
Tangetn--MR3: contemplative.
- kaiqi: ok..
- kaiqi: strange use
- kaiqi: nvm
- kaiqi: i get what you mean
- kaiqi: yeah lah
- kaiqi: but youre the ct rep
- kaiqi: so have to be closer to the class
- kaiqi: no matter what
Tangetn--MR3: okok...
Tangetn--MR3: i understand..
Tangetn--MR3: do yu find dat i am very different from the rest of u.
- kaiqi: errrm a bit
- kaiqi: not very different lah
Tangetn--MR3: u know im not lame or funny at all..
Tangetn--MR3: actually..
- kaiqi: yeah?
Tangetn--MR3: dunno somehow become like dat after joining this class..
- kaiqi: HAHA
- kaiqi: THATS A GOOD THING

so next time we must drag him down and stop him from contemplating ok? haha. i think the part about him becoming lame and funny afer joining this class is funny! do y'all feel the same way as him... haha.

btw, yes the honeymoon period is ending, as signified by me wearing the rj uniform (or so weizhong says). but it doesn't mean that some things are going to change. the workload will definitely be heavier and some people may start isolating themselves to mug or do personal stuff that holds more interest for them. we can't control the amount of workload, but we can control ourselves. isn't it up to the individual how he/she wants to make an effort at keeping the relationships going strong?

and once we all start wearing the rj uniform, we probably can't recognise j1s from their uniforms anymore. then how? look at the faces lah! i will be damn sad if you can't even recognise me by my face after 2 months! xD

let's have weekly optional staying-back/dinner/outing! :) everyone and anyone is welcome. day has yet to be fixed, probably friday after school/trngs. we should probably have a 'lodge' or meeting place of our own. haha yeaaaaaaaa.

next, we haven't had an outing with our senior class yet. -____- despite talking about it for so long. anyway don't expect high turn-up rate. heard that their most successful outing so far had only 9 people turning up. -_______________________- we totally own them lah! xD shall discuss this again during civics? this is never-ending......

study hard and smart for physics on thurs.

firstly, happy birthday yucong! (: you're now officially allowed to drink. haha.

eh weizhong i agree with you i prefer everyone to wear their sceondary sch uniform instead of the rj one. its so much nicer seeing everyone wearing different uniforms instead of the boring all white for guys and the green skirt for girls. haha but at least when we all wear the RJ uniform ppl like ernest wont be picked on as the "hwa chong boy" during econs lecture anymore. but i'll still be poor mr moortarbet. ARGH

ohwell CLASS BONDING SESSION WAS SUCH A FAILURE. our fantastic CT rep was not even there la! so much for diminishing class spirit right tan chen. we ended up playing polar bear and yucong has such small eyes no one knows if hes cheating or not la! no wonder all the polar bears got killed so fast.

anyway let me share a joke by weiren (the one in our class la, for all those who are thinking otherwise) during physics prac today.
me: hey weiren you want a melty kiss chocolate?
weiren: no la dont want. but if you throw it in the air it becomes a flying kiss O.0
omg weiren standard thrashes qiongye la. hahaha.

oh and linxi, dont embarrass me anymore la k! if not i dont tell you anymore things alr :D and lorraine how can you say her post is good at all! it totally sucks la. haha.

take care everyone (: see you guys on monday! keep posting!

Kai Qi switched to the RJ uniform yesterday.

I was slightly surprised when I saw a girl in a white blouse and a green flared skirt—the RJ uniform for girls—standing at the end of the assembly queue of my class, before the flag-raising session began today. I soon realised, however, that the girl was just someone in our class who has somehow decided to make an early change to the uniform to which all the girls in our school have to switch eventually.

Rather expectedly, Kai Qi was teased by my classmates when they saw her in her ostensibly different outfit; "Wah, RJ girl!" and similar remarks surfaced. Some pointed out that she's probably the first girl in our batch to make the switch to the new uniform, although she said that there were other girls who made this switch even earlier. We also noted that Qiongye, who was incidentally standing beside Kai Qi for assembly last morning, also made the switch to the RJ uniform.

It seems to me that it is much more common for the RI guys than any other group of people (especially the girls) to switch to the RJ uniform, since the difference between the RI and the RJ guys' uniform is rather small. In contrast, the RJ uniform for girls is hugely different from any of those of the secondary schools to which the J1 girls in RJ belong.

Actually, I appreciate the J1s' wearing different uniforms as compared to the J2s now. I love being able to tell if someone or a group of students I encounter in school belongs to J1 or J2, immediately, just by outfit. In a school where there are only two standards, that's just about the most basic information about any RJ student or any group of RJ people. In addition, if a group of students belong to the J1 batch, I am more likely to look on to spot anyone I might know in that group, for example.

Moreover, I've always felt that the uniform worn by the J1 girls—the RG uniform, for instance—makes them seem more accessible than the RJ uniform. Somehow, the latter makes them seem more adult-like and therefore less accessible as peers. But perhaps that's just me, and perhaps I have this observation only because my peers have been in the RG uniform, and that my perception would change as I see them in the RJ uniform in the future.

The ending of the first two months

Well, the switch to the new set of uniform by Kai Qi (and soon, by her peers) serves as a reminder for me that the first two months of junior college life is ending. Sometimes, I get so engrossed in the activities in and out of school that I need some changes to take place for me to take note of some things, and this is one instance. And that March is approaching has very important implications for all of us RJ J1s, in many facets of our school life.

One of the first that hit me was the fact that changing subject combinations is going to get a lot harder beyond this time. Not only would we face administrative problems when switching subjects (in terms of timetabling after the possibility of re-timetabling to cater to the second intake students, for example), we would no longer have the option of attending remedial lessons that are meant to help second intake students to catch up. The additional content introduced after the second intake students join lessons would also make catching up relatively less manageable. Catching up with the lessons of the new subjects you may take would therefore be more difficult, with only the notes and at most your peers on whom you can rely. Somehow, although I'm rather certain that I won't be changing my subject combination, the very possibility of doing so still matters to me. I think I enjoy the security that arises from having the option to change subject combinations, should you find a subject to be beyond your ability.

It would also be slightly more difficult to change or sign up for CCAs beyond the first two months, after the CCAs close their second intake meant for those new students from the Joint Admission Exercise. For some CCAs like the Interact Club, it seems from their recruitment exercise and apparent exclusivity that joining after the second intake would be almost impossible. For others, it might still be possible to join them beyond the first two months, but you'd be rather alone in being a new member of that CCA, with tons to catch up on and the risk of having a CCA long-term schedule that starts before your entry. (A club may start its training proper from March after the second intake, for example.)

Of course, the end of the first two months also signifies the cessation of the traditional JC honeymoon period, much as some teachers (especially from the Mathematics Department, it seems) have tried hard to destroy the notion of the honeymoon period itself. But I would expect the academics and, for some CCAs, the activity in the CCA, to pick up in terms of requirement or expectation of effort beyond March, after the second intake.

I guess we can't do anything about the changes that would be taking place as the Provisional Admissions Exercise ends, except to adapt and get used to them. I guess it's time to be conscientious students and start to work harder on our subjects and our CCAs. It also seems pertinent to consider our subject combination and CCAs carefully once again, and—making use of the concepts introduced during the two months of Economics—consider the opportunity-cost of your decisions. Accordingly, make a swift and timely change should the costs of continuing with a subject or a CCA outweigh the opportunities.

Background: The Provisional Admissions Exercise

What makes it possible for us to wear our secondary school uniforms, at least initially, even after coming to a new school is the scheme known as the Provisional Admissions Exercise.

In Singapore, secondary school students in the Express stream take the GCE O Level exams at the end of four years of secondary school education. Those with an aggregate of 20 or below in the O Level exams may opt to go to a junior college for their post-secondary education.

However, the O Level results are not released until February in the year following the administering of the O Levels. Thus, those intending to go to a junior college are provisionally admitted to a junior college for about two months based on the schools' preliminary examination score. Another admissions exercise (the Joint Admissions Exercise, or JAE), based on the official O Level results, is held after its release, in March.

Prior to the JAE, in junior colleges, students are allowed to wear their secondary school uniforms. The reason is presumably that the authorities do not want those who fail to stay in the junior college beyond the JAE to have to waste money on a new set of uniforms that would last only them two months. Some people, however, may make the switch to the junior college uniform before the JAE if they're confident that they would stay in their new school. This may be because their O Level performance is good enough guarantee their stay, or that they belong to the Integrated Programme and would definitely stay in their new school.

Wikipedia has more information about the Provisional Admission Exercise in general.

hi people! (:

tan chen said our class spirit is diminishing! oh man how sad right :( lets not let it diminish anymore! we shall start playing more class bonding games from tmr onwards and prove him wrong. hahaha anyway heres my futile attempt to revive the class blog which has been quite stagnant lately! (:

firstly, thank goodness we all dont take h2 chem. cos i heard that the lecture test our poor friends took today was terrible and there were 10+ teachers patrolling the lecture theatre which prevented any copying. well lets hope our physics lecture test wont be like that right if not we're screwed (well some of us like me at least). hahaha oh man i like this font colour a lot.

oh i just wanna say that i thought both meiyi's and peizhi's GP presentations today were good la. dont be disheartened meiyi you were the first so theres a lot of pressure yea? so if you're still sad cheer up k!! (: but peizhi was freaking pro la owned all of us. good luck to ernest who is supposed to perform double the standard. haha :D

well today was an embarrassing day for me. after naming my top 10 chioest girls in RJ who i have seen so far, linxi just HAD to call her friend, who happens to be one of the 10, over to the table and told her everything which i said about her. THANKS A LOT LINXI. linxi: "samuel says he has got diabetes cos he saw too much eye candy today". ohwell my first embarrassing moment this year.

okay i think i've written enough already. everyone must try to blog! so the blog wont end up like our senior class's blog. hahaa. see you guys in sch tmr! (: i really hope our class bonding session succeeds.

The release of the O Level results last Friday at RI was one of the most emotionally charged events I was involved in in a quite a while, and on a related note, I felt that I had a slightly deeper understanding into the human condition after that. The tears, the expletives, the hugs, the laughter, the pats, the handshakes... the event was, above all, a social one. Were we total strangers, or even private candidates receiving our results in isolation, the affair would have been drastically different.

But more on that later.

4M Lunch!

4M met for lunch before the release of our results. Even when I was slightly late, I only saw about three people waiting at Bishan MRT Station. More people joined us later, and we decided to go to Pastamania for our lunch. At Pastamania, our initial group of 12 almost doubled in size to result in an impressive turnout of 23. The whole class, except Chang Xing and Koay, was there, and it really was quite surprising that so many of us happened to be free.

Each of us saw each other, but due to the counter-style layout of the tables, the chatter was mostly between two or three people, and largely within our old cliques. But something was better than nothing, and in retrospect, it was a rather good bargain for the amount of energy we have remaining to keep our Sec 3/Sec 4 class together. And it was wonderful being able to talk to Daryl, Auyong and the rest of the 4M people after a long period of non-contact.

After the 4M lunch, which happened to be my first all-guys mass gathering in 2007, we proceeded together to RI for the collection of our O Level results. 4M took a class photograph before I went around the school taking photographs of random people. The rest stayed in the hall reading our yearbooks, stacks of which had been placed in the hall.

HOD

Nearer to 2.30 pm, more and more people entered the hall and soon nearly the whole batch taking the O Levels for Higher Mother Tongue was there. Our dear Chinese HOD went to the rostrum of our newly refurbished hall to read out the statistics pertaining to RI's performance this year: a pass rate of 94.3% as compared to the national average of 94.6%, a distinction (A1/A2) rate of 48.2%, as compared to the national average of 49.2%, and a mean subject grade of 2.99. At the same time, she, to quote Hwee Leong, "still spared no effort in suaning those who scored badly".

It was actually rather sad to end off our encounters with the HOD with her usual nonchalance and acrimoniousness in full display. To be honest, my experience with Higher Chinese and with the O Levels would have been a lot more pleasant were teachers like Mrs Eunice Tay our HOD instead. I'm just thankful that her speech happened before our results were released when none of us really care about what she said, and not after, when it would have really stung those who performed badly during the examinations.

In any case, she gave the command to our Chinese teachers to release our O level results to the classes. We were supposed to go up to a desk and initial against our name while collecting our results slip, in register order. Meanwhile, our classes were seated in one long row in register order in front of the desk. Liu lao shi was no longer present, and we collected our results from Cai Ying Hua lao shi instead. She was in charge of distributing the results slip to 4L and 4M, and 4L people collected their results slips first.

Alric: I want to sit down here forever ah!

Reactions and support

Aaron Chee was the first in these two classes to collect his results slip, and I think he got an A1. In his rather apparent ecstasy, he was busy shaking the hands of the first few people in 4M. As we'd found out later, things were very different when everyone got their grades, and Aaron's handshakes wouldn't have been very possible after each of us had our own grades to bother about.

In a few minutes, Cai lao shi got to distributing 4M's results slip, and some of the 4M people started crowding around the desk. Each of us took a few seconds to initial against our names and collect our results slip, which Cai lao shi placed flat on the table top for everyone to see.

For all the hype and people's reaction to their results, it was easy to forget that a good number of people remained outwardly calm as they collected their results. I happened to belong to this group of people, despite the fact that an A1 was rather unexpected, given my grade of B3 in the prelims. I was rather exhilarated (even though I didn't show it) for a few moments, before the positive feelings disappeared. Emotionally, the deal was rather unfair; the happiness from getting an A1 faded in a while, but I would take quite some time to get over any grade below B3.

Still, some people developed rather strong reactions to an unexpected score, and rather strong expletives began to come out, despite the presence of a teacher.

I shall not mention anyone's grades and reactions here specifically, but I observed that those around me disappointed over their grades exhibited considerable restraint in expressing their emotions.

In fact, no one around me cried over their results; if they did, they didn't do so openly. But disappointment and sadness in some of our friends was still visible in the reddened, watery eyes and their general facial expressions. By the time we noted our friends' disappointment, the rest of us toned our emotions and the celebration of our results down. Some of us gave hugs and pats and sat around these friends in silence. I certainly hope our efforts did help those who didn't get their desired results feel better, at least by a little bit.

Back to our teacher

On the spot, I compiled the grades of the 4M people in hope of letting Liu lao shi know about 4M's performance. Doing this was a challenge as not everyone got the results they desired or expected; understandably, for some, it was difficult to be as happy-go-lucky as Kern ("Why got no microphone? I want to announce my good results."). At that time, I had to depend on other people to know the results of certain people.

I made a call to Liu lao shi soon after to give her a summary of our performance, as well as to update her on our key reactions to our results. It must be regrettable for her that she couldn't have been there to know our results and witness our reactions for herself. I would, if I were her; all this consummates the year-long teaching experience, and our journey together.

I was slightly disappointed that 4M broke up into our various groups to go for our various activities shortly after our results were released. People left the hall gradually after the results were released, while I sat around and spoke to people concerning their results and what happened in the afternoon itself.

The day in perspective

A week has passed since the release of our O Level results, and most of us should have gotten over our grades. With the passing of this episode, Chinese has ceased to be an academic issue for most of us. For some of us, this event was marked with pleasant surprises, while for others, it was unfortunately mixed with some amount of anguish. For the latter group, I truly hope that the support of your friends has made things better for you somewhat.

As we move on with our lives, may we draw support from whatever emotions we experienced last Friday as motivation in our future examinations. When we collect our A Level results one day, two years down the road, I'm certain that our performance will occasion joy, not sorrow, in us.

Editing time: Approximately 50 minutes

Hao Yang reported sick yesterday (get well soon!), and Meiyi replaced him in our team for The Grand Overtake, which eventually comprised Meiyi, Hien, Stacy and me.

Yesterday, we completed three stations of The Grand Overtake with a time of 2 h 23′57″, and incurred a time penalty of 10′00″ for wrong answers and 4 h 30′00″ for uncompleted stations. Our total race time was 7 h 03′07″. But at least we weren't disqualified from the race, as a few other teams that failed to complete the race by 10.45 am were. In the end, the J2 classes swept the top five places for the race.

However, at least whatever I predicted to Wynne didn't come true. Stacy and I are still friends, at least outwardly; we didn't shout or scream at each other, nor did we argue uncivilly, for instance. Slight transformations, however, did occur in some of the other relationships in the group. On one hand, it made it easier for some to lose faith in the relationship, and on the other, it enabled people to work on changing themselves or their mindsets to make the relationship work.

Indeed, the honeymoon period is passing; cracks are starting to appear, and tension starting to surface, in some of our new relationships. This is what we had to deal with yesterday, and will have to deal with in the future, as we accustom ourselves to the fact that the course of events has tied a part of our lives together for two years.

I like your cookies. And the card. But attempting to compare between the guys' gifts and the girls' gifts is just going to invite flak from one camp either way, so I shall not even try to make a comparison.

Of course, I have a lot of other things to say regarding what transpired today, but I'm beastly exhausted now. All that shall be another story for another day, provided that I would have enough motivation to talk about it then. I'm just glad I ranted on the spot to Stacy and tried conducting a post-mortem amicably with Tan Chen, tempting as it was to do some serious physical damage instead (and then the police will do a post-mortem on Tan Chen). At least I got to share my thoughts with some other people. And I'm also glad I tried to conceal my agitation; that would preserve my image in front of Stacy for another two days before Take 5.

Happy Valentine's Day.

omg linxi you suck lah. it's a tortoise not a pig!!!! HAHAHAHAHAHAAAA. how did you even see it as a pig..! xD

anyway yes thanks guys! the tortoise is damn cute. i am forced to make it a female. 99.9% of my toys are males but this one is too girl to be a male. i think i shall call it tina. my sister was so excited when she saw it cause we have the same tortoise at home, except that it's bigger and it's green. yeah i do have quite a lot of soft toys at home and you won't want to know how we play with them, even at this age. ok that's not the point. the point is, THANK YOU!

happy valentine's day.

WELCOME BACK, SAMUEL!

(originally posted on kai qi's blog... just a copy-and-paste extract)

sun: around noon, got a message from linxi saying that samuel's flight was changed to 7+/8pm. panic mode on. haha. only a few people in the class could make it with that short notice. some people even bangseh at the last minute! tsk tsk. so there were only linxi lorraine emily (she's in skang's og) ian weizhi weizhong and me at the airport. went to bk for dinner (weizhong smartly reminded that bk is the place where we have been going to for every outing) and drew samuel's poster! it ended up being so errrrrr, artistic. x) samuel arrived soon after we pasted the poster onto the glass wall. it's a good thing ian brought scotch tape along, or else weizhong would continue rambling on about newton's law yadayadayada... the auntie and angmoh beside us gave us weird looks. -_- "there is a force acting downwards..." -points downwards. "why is it that when you apply a horizontal force the paper will stay there, even though by right the horizontal component should not affect the vertical component..." -pushes against glass wall. "friction! yes it must be friction!" errrr weizhong, save your questions for kamel. haha but that was really quite entertaining and amusingly retarded.

so we talked to samuel and took pictures together with the other 2 seniors who are squashers, james and jerryca. then i became interested in samuel's trolley, and weizhong too! so we took turns pushing each other on the trolley. whoaaaaaaa it was damn fun!!!!! everyone should try it! it feels better than cycling, cause you don't have to use your legs at all haha. also, it's a good workout for the person pushing the trolley, cause samuel's luggages were really quite heavy. the first time i pushed weizhong around (pushed him around? haha), he actually cried shrilly when the trolley was accelerating! HAHA! next time i should bring a tape recorder with me. weizhong is actually lots of fun, really.

everyone went home at 9+. lorraine and i got a lift from samuel's parents. :) yayyy the westsiders! we talked about none other than...... FUNCTIONS. ;) hoho now samuel claims he needs help in functions. yeah right. he's the pro in functions! but probably won't help in real functions though. haha.

As mentioned in this press release, the release of O Level results for my batch, the Secondary 4 batch of 2006, will take place tomorrow at 2.30 pm at our respective secondary schools.

I've started a couple of MSN conversations with my peers earlier tonight on what they expect for tomorrow. Like what I've told them, I'd love to hear from you, my friends, about your O Level results (for the whole gamut of subjects, or just for your Higher Mother Tongue paper) and whatever sadness or joy you might experience tomorrow afternoon. I especially welcome SMS messages on this tomorrow.

If you expect plenty of emotional turbulence, now is a good time to enjoy the calmness of it all…

And finally, all the best.

seeing that there hasn't been any post for the past few days, it's time for YO MAMA jokes!

yo mama so fat, she makes sumo wrestler look anorexic.

yo mama so fat, when i had to swerve to avoid hitting her on the road i ran out of petrol.

yo mama so fat, her belt size is the equator.

yo mama so fat, she was in the daily record last week on page 5, 6, 7, 8, and 9.

yo mama so fat, she fell off a boat and the captain yelled, "land ahoy!!!"

yo mama so fat, when she sat on a rainbow, skittles fell out.

(DISCLAIMER: all of the above jokes are not original works of the author.)

ok that's enough for the day! :) chillax everyone... (chill out and relax)

Dark Suckers

For years, it has been believed that electric bulbs emit light, but recent information has proved otherwise. Electric bulbs don't emit light; they suck dark. Thus, we call these bulbs Dark Suckers.

The Dark Sucker Theory and the existence of dark suckers prove that dark has mass and is heavier than light.

First, the basis of the Dark Sucker Theory is that electric bulbs suck dark. For example, take the Dark Sucker in the room you are in. There is much less dark right next to it than there is elsewhere. The larger the Dark Sucker, the greater its capacity to to suck dark. Dark Suckers in the parking lot have a much greater capacity to suck dark than the ones in this room.

So with all things, Dark Suckers don't last forever. Once they are full of dark, they can no longer suck. This is proven by the dark spot on a full Dark Sucker.

A candle is a primitive Dark Sucker. A new candle has a white wick. You can see that after the first use, the wick turns black, representing all the dark that has been sucked into it. If you put a pencil next to the wick of an operating candle, it will turn black. This is because it got in the way of the dark flowing into the candle. One of the disadvantages of these primitive Dark Suckers is their limited range.

There are also portable Dark Suckers. In these, the bulbs can't handle all the dark by themselves and must be aided by a Dark Storage Unit. When the Dark Storage Unit is full, it must be either emptied or replaced before the portable Dark Sucker can operate again.

Dark has mass. When dark goes into a Dark Sucker, friction from the mass generates heat. Thus, it is not wise to touch an operating Dark Sucker. Candles present a special problem as the mass must travel into a solid wick instead of through clear glass. This generates a great amount of heat and therefore it's not wise to touch an operating candle.

Also, dark is heavier than light. If you were to swim just below the surface of the lake, you would see a lot of light. If you were to slowly swim deeper and deeper, you would notice it getting darker and darker. When you get really deep, you would be in total darkness. This is because the heavier dark sinks to the bottom of the lake and the lighter light floats at the top. The is why it is called light.

Finally, we must prove that dark is faster than light. If you were to stand in a lit room in front of a closed, dark closet, and slowly opened the closet door, you would see the light slowly enter the closet. But since dark is so fast, you would not be able to see the dark leave the closet.

Next time you see an electric bulb, remember that it is a Dark Sucker.

I have a joke to tell! (I think I told a few people already, but it's ok 'cos it's cool to repeat jokes 'cos they're funnier the second time. Hurhur.)

Once upon a time, there was a green bean! It was very unhygenic and didn't bathe for a few days... And of course, it felt itchy and started to scratch itself.

SCRATCH SCRATCH SCRATCH.

The end! Haha ok not funny. You're supposed to guess what's the ending :D

Who would like to produce a podcast with me? I'm looking for podcasting partners. Podcasting, something that could be characterised as a conversation between two people that is made public, is actually pretty fun and cathartic. I've produced a couple of podcasts in the past; you could still access my fourth podcast on my blog.

Please contact me for further details.
